A very Merry Christmas

"and unto us, in the city of David, a child was born..." that child was Jesus Christ, soon to be Savior of the world. :)
It's been a great Christmas. For me, it's felt like Christmas... Off and on. It may be because it's 60 degrees outside?!?!? Lol. But, no, it's been really great. My grandpa came in from Kentucky to celebrate with us.
We went to Bonefish for Eve dinner, went to a get together with the friends we've gotten together with for about 4 years now, and then went home and opened our Christmas eve presents. Which are always pajamas:) hehe. But grandpa also brought something with him. He brought me the watch I've been looking all over for! (I've found it before, but they're all freaking bedazzled) when he brought me it, it also came with 4 other colors. It's incredible. I was psyched.
So, this a.m. I was last to get up.. If mom hadn't woken me up who knows how long they woulda waited :P we gathered in the den and read the nativity story. Always something we do Christmas morning. Every year, it gets better and better for me. This year was the first year that I've really appreciated it.
Well, now it was present time. Yay! I'll just write what I got:)
A bunch of new fragrances/shower gel/lotion, a Hawaiian pigeon Bible(it's super cool!), iTunes gift cards, a new PCA half zip:), more fuzzy socks, and a new itouch! (unexpected) so, it's been a great Christmas. Friends, family. I'm super blessed and know I am loved.
I wish there was some way I could tell my boys in Haiti, Merry Christmas.
It's 30 degrees celsius there, which is about 65 here. But that's cold for them.. I want to send all of them coats. But, I can only love from afar for now. God has them under His arm.

Awaiting the Holy Night - Mary's Perspective

I wrote this post back in December 18, 2022 and never published it but with Christmas around the corner and joining my family in reading a chapter of Luke a day to celebrated Advent, I decided to circle back around to it. I know it may be taboo to read into how a Biblical character might have felt or what they might have thought, but adding personification to the people that we read so much about felt like an exciting venture. And besides that, The Chosen TV series came out around that time and it brought so many characters to life... giving them thoughts, feelings, and emotions so I felt that maybe I was in the clear (I mean, now anytime I read Jesus's words in Scripture, I hear Jonathan Roumie's voice). Grief - It's Okay

Grief. How does someone wrestle with the wounds it leaves?  It's a fog that covers a valley. It's a g-force against our lungs like we're on one of those carnival rides that spins so fast, you're pinned to a wall. It's a cloud that specifically rains on you when everything and everyone else is basking in sunshine. It's a numbness that can feel like an emotional void. And like a spinning record, it plays over and over again. Grief comes in all shapes and sizes from all sorts of occasions. There could be a seasonal grief due to weather changes and the days getting darker earlier after sunshine and late nights and warmth kissed you all summer.
