Championing Others
What is leadership? What does it mean to champion other people? Leadership has always been defined in a "command the room, be well-respected, serve humbly, care genuinely, take charge" kind of way for me. And don't get me wrong, there are multiple good things within that list that are necessary but as I have developed as a person and learned more in life and ministry, it's become more than that. I feel that it is those things but it's also knowing your people and loving them well so as to set them up for success. This is where the idea of championing others has come into play. "Championing" is a word that I have used more in this season of life than I ever have before. In my mind when someone champions someone else, they advocate for them, encourage them, and help them strive to be the best they can be.
